New Year’s Eve is the opportune chance for people across the country to eat, drink and be merry and welcome 2013 with joy and cheer. No matter where you plan to go for the celebrations, or who you decide to spend it with, there’s a diverse range of destinations and activities to choose from, located all over the UK.
What better place to be than our bustling capital? London hotels from Travelodge mean that your stay in the city doesn’t have to be expensive and with pubs and clubs along the Thames opening their doors for the festivities, you’re guaranteed to find somewhere to suit your criteria. Top tip: Don’t miss the awesome fireworks over the London Eye – truly spectacular.
Calennig at Cardiff’s Winter Wonderland is a truly magical place to be on NYE. With an amazing fireworks display, the opportunity to skate on the Admiral ice rink at midnight and plenty of live music to get your hips shaking, the Welsh capital will provide an incredible party for all who visit.
Continuing with the UK capitals, Edinburgh is up there with the best. Its Hogmanay celebrations are unrivalled and attract thousands of visitors from all over the world, ready to immerse themselves in the three day street party, including live music from top international bands.
Step away from the bustling cities and head for the Cornwall coast. Newquay is a popular new year’s destination, if only because of the opportunity to dress up and party with fellow revellers. Fancy dress isn’t compulsory, but highly recommended to help you get in the spirit of things.
The Lake District
Not everybody wants to spend NYE drinking their body weight in wine and beverages, and would instead love to spend the evening curled up under a blanket aside a log fire, with a glass of wine and their loved ones. If this is you, head for the quaint countryside of Lake District – a beautiful region which offers more local celebrations in the rustic taverns.
With most of the clubs and bars in the city already preparing for the New Year celebrations, Bristol is a fabulous place to bring in the New Year. From the jazz clubs and cider barges, to the clubs that present big name DJs, this bustling city will guarantee a superb night.
OK, so taking a step away from the norm and enjoying a weekend away to celebrate New Year’s Eve is a fabulous notion, but if you prefer, why not save your weekend break for after the madness and enjoy the celebrations in the comfort of your own home? Throw a party or just cuddle up with your other half, maybe? However you choose to spend New Year’s Eve, be sure to welcome 2013 in style. If you do decide to venture towards a big city for the celebrations, make sure you book your tickets and accommodation in advance to avoid disappointment.
