Holidays to Tenerife are an eternal favourite among holidaymakers from all walks of life. From sun-seekers and beach bums to clubbers and nature enthusiasts, Tenerife is a popular place. Here are a few things to add to your must-see and must-do list next time you visit this lovely island.
Top up your tan
The majority of visitors who come to Tenerife travel on package holidays. They make straight for the beach, lazing away the days topping up their tan, sipping something cool and refreshing whilst catching up on the latest bestseller. If this sounds like your cup of tea, you’ll find a huge selection of resorts which cater to your needs. Try big and bustling Los Cristianos or Costa Adeje on the south coast, where you can sunbathe, swim and shop to your heart’s content. For something a little quieter try tranquil Guia de Isora on the east coast, or head for the more traditional north coast and the resort of Puerto de la Cruz.
Wherever you stay, it’s well worth dusting off your hiking boots and heading over to central Tenerife. Here you’ll find the imposing Mt Teide rising majestically out of the volcanic landscape. The mountain is in fact a volcano – a dormant one – and it’s well worth hiking (or cable-carring) your way to the top for dramatic views across the island and out to sea. Don’t forget your camera.
Party ‘til dawn
One of the things Tenerife is most famous for is its nightlife. The biggest scenes are found in Playa de las Americas and Los Cristianos, so this is the place to be if you want to party ‘til dawn. Expect lots of hen and stag dos, young twentysomethings with boundless energy and world-famous DJs who come from far and wide to play here. On a night out in Playa, expect the unexpected – but just don’t expect an early night…
