Ten Cents to Heaven Resort in Tanay, Rizal

Updated March 2016

Ten Cents to Heaven Resort is the kind of place you’d go to just to meditate amidst nature. With its cool climate, manicured gardens in front of a sea of hills, stairways lined with pine like trees and wooden cabanas shrouded in vines, this resort and leisure camp in Tanay, Rizal offers a serene respite from city life. Best of all, it’s not that far from the metro.

LOCATION:

The resort is located along the Marilaque highway in Tanay, Rizal, which is my favorite getaway for weekend road trips. I first spotted the place during a random solo ride in 2014 to check out some of the new restaurants in the area suitable for road trip pit stops. Since then, this has been one of our choices for quick breakfast rides during the weekend. The sprawling 30-hectare mountain resort provides a 360-degree view of the Sierra Madre mountain ranges and Laguna de Bay. What I like most about it is it doesn’t get as crowded as some of the more popular pit stops for bikers.

Getting here is pretty easy if you have your own private transportation. Their official website claims they’re just a 45 minute drive from Ortigas. By motorcycle (passing through Marikina and Cogeo traffic), it usually takes me 1.5 to 2 hours to get here from Quezon City. The whole resort has well-maintained facilities and some extreme activities available to guests.

ACCOMMODATIONS & EVENTS VENUE:

The resort has sprawling grounds with lots of different areas where you can hang out. There are several camping decks (they can provide the camping setting and sleeping bags or you can bring your own camping materials), a recreational hall, and rows of open air view deck cabanas with wooden curtains where you can just relax during the day. If you want to stay overnight, they also have family rooms, communal dorms, full house rentals (for 40 pax), and night cabanas available.

Ten Cents to Heaven is mainly a venue for special events like weddings, birthdays, family reunions, parties or retreats. They have a large recreational hall / function room for indoor events and a courtyard garden for outdoor events. The place even has its own pavilion and chapel.

The scenic view, all the rustic wooden details, and fresh flowers in bloom make the place an ideal spot for pre-nuptial pictorial sessions. There are very nice landscaped walkways in the outdoor gardens, while the pavilion and private deluxe room offer nice spots for photos.

SWIMMING POOLS & FISH SPA:

In front of the enclosed pavilion are two swimming pools, with stunning views of the Sierra Madre mountain range. Construction was still ongoing in some of the buildings during the time of my first visit, but they’ve since finished most of the work.

The swimming pools are a bit small, but they are very well maintained.

A new addition is the fish spa therapy in the ground floor outdoor deck area of the restaurant, where you can sit on benches and have doctor fish clean off the dead skin of your feet. This costs P200 for 30 minutes.

EXTREME ACTIVITIES:

Ten Cents to Heaven was mainly designed as a team-building event venue, so there are a lot of activities you can do here around the grounds.

06. ten cents to heaven obstacle course

The obstacle course includes a centipede walk, soldier crawl, bubble walk, Jordan ladder, and more.

There’s a 60-feet high wall where you can do rock climbing, rappelling and free fall.

There’s a 1.2 km long zipline (which they claim to be “the longest zipline in Luzon”). You can ride here superman style or sitting down, either one-way (with pick up on the other side) or two way. There’s a shorter junior zipline that’s more suitable for kids. Here’s a video of the actual zipline.

There’s also a cool 150-meter long hanging bridge leading back from the zipline to the obstacle course.

DINING:

If you’re not planning to stay the night, you can just stop by for a meal at the Camp Cafe Resto Bar, their in-house restaurant, which has a pretty good selection of Pinoy and International cuisine (most are good for sharing).

Some sample food & price range from their daily menu:

By private transportation (my route is from Diliman, QC)

  • If you are coming from C5 Pasig take road towards Marikina and find your way to Santolan Pasig than go towards Masinag. You will pass by Marikina bridge and Sta.Lucia East Grand mall before reaching the Masinag stop light.
  • Follow the route of Marcos Highway.
  • You will pass through Masinag, Cogeo, Boso-boso Resort, Palo Alto and Garden Cottages.
  • Ten Cents to Heaven is on the right side of the road. There’s a huge billboard. The gate entrance is about 100 meters from the main road through a paved uphill road.

  3. Hi Jessa, here’s a map from Ten Cents to Daranak Falls. It’s about 18.4 km via Marcos Highway & Tanay-Sampaloc Road. Have not tried commuting here, as motor usually dala ko, but other bloggers say you can hire a tricycle from the Tanay Public Market in Brgy Sampaloc to get to Daranak (P50-100/person depends on usapan niyo ng trike). Entrance fee for Ten Cents is P100/person. Entrance fee for Daranak is P50/person while it’s another P100/person for Batlag Falls.

  4. hi! i just wanna ask kung concrete or rough road papunta dyan sa tencents. we’ll be having our teambuilding there, and i am pregnant.

  5. Hi Jeanette, the road going to Ten Cents is fully concrete/paved and accessible to all types of vehicles. May konting stairs lang papuntang cottages since resort is located on the side of a hill.

  6. hi miss kara. would like to ask if mahirap po kaya mag-drive going there from QC? Nakita ko po kasi sa Google Maps, parang Baguio po ba ito pataas at maraming sharp turns? Thanks po!

  7. Hi Anne. The road going there is twisty, but that’s what makes driving there fun. It’s easy enough to drive if you’re taking a car or motorcycle (steep lang yung ibang parts for those on bikes), but the scenery is great.

  8. hi? can i ask a question? sa per activity ba like rappelling? hanging bridge? may bayad po ba yun? sight seeing lang po sana ko kaso gusto ko rin mtry yun hehe thanks

If you’re coming from Manila East Road, and going to Daranak first, it will be on the left. Here is a map to Ten Cents. And here’s the route on Googlempas from Ten Cents to Daranak.

  13. Hi, kindly check with the management directly regarding rates for accommodations. I included the contact info at the end of the post. I’m not sure how much the corkage fee is, but there probably is one because they also run a restaurant there.

We are planning to execute an activity inside the school so I just wanna ask if there are instances na you will bring the rappelling, wall climbing and other activities that is possible to transfer in other places like here in our school.
