Christmas road trip: Casa Santa Museum in Antipolo

Need a bit of Christmas spirit and cheer in your lives? Or maybe you’re looking for a fun Christmas ride destination for biking or motorcycling near the metro for the weekend? Casa Santa Museum in Antipolo offers a fun Christmas-themed museum for those who want to experience the magic of the season all year-round.

The last time I visited Casa Santa Museum was in 2014 during a solo Christmas ride. It was great to revisit with Art for the holidays in 2020 right time to check out the new attractions and get some much Christmas cheer ahead of the holiday season.

Location

Casa Santa Museum is located inside Jardin de Miramar, a garden events venue in Antipolo, roughly just 30 minutes away from Metro Manila. The venue itself is a great place to visit, with spacious garden areas ideal for weddings and other celebrations as well as landscaped gardens perfect for prenup, debut and wedding photoshoots or nature walks.

Casa Santa Museum

Casa Santa Museum is a Christmas-themed house that boasts of more than 3,700 Christmas and Santa Claus mementos collected from all over the world.

What started out as a small private collection of Jardin De Miramar’s owner grew over the years until it needed a house where all the Santas could fit. The Casa was converted from a family rest house into a museum of sorts in 1995 and was opened to the public 20 years ago.

Ground Floor and Lobby

The main ground floor features a living room and dining room with a vast collection of Santa Claus memorabilia, ranging from life-sized, singing Santas to Santa themed plates and mugs, candles, plush toys, dolls, and figurines.

The exterior of the house resembles a log cabin, while inside it’s a cozy Christmas cottage, complete with brick fireplace, living area, and dazzling lights.

Every corner contains quirky and unique Christmas items from around the world, from traditional Santa blankets and a collection of dog figurines dressed up in Santa hats, to modern toys like action figures of Jack Skellington from The Nightmare before Christmas and Christmas LEGO sets.

Santa’s Bedroom

On the ground floor, there’s a bedroom that displays Santa themed baby clothes and shelf wall of Lego figures and sets. A smaller room here has been set up for kids to play in, with a padded floor mat and lots of Christmas themed stuffed toys.

Mini Christmas Village

A small alcove near the stairway contains a mini-Christmas village of houses in a snowy setting. With all the glittering lights from the tiny houses, the trains moving, and soft music, the place looks really magical.

The museum also houses several new sections, some of which were just added this 2020, including the Balay Belen, the Grinch’s room and the Toy Factory.

Balay Belen

Christmas isn’t just about Santa Claus, so the museum has expanded with other galleries related to Christmas.

The Balay Belen contains dioramas and shelves of different nativity scenes from around the world, with unique and beautiful pieces made from different materials like resin, beads, clay, pure glass and more. Reflect on The Greatest Story Ever Told through a unique and virtual tour through the Balay Belen.

Travel around the Christmas scenes around the world in one section devoted to miniature villages of Christmas scenes from different continents including Australia, Europe, Asia, Africa, North America and South America.

The Grinch’s Room

Another new section of the museum sure to delight movie buffs and kids is the Grinch’s room, designed from the Christmas movie classic The Grinch by Dr. Seuss.

The loft on the second story of the house leads to a recreation of the Grinch’s bedroom, complete with interactive knobs and dials.

Toy Factory

From the Grinch’s room, you can take a glimpse and enter the Toy Factory section of Casa Santa, where you can see Santa’s elves in action as they make toys for the little girls and boys.

There are specific sections with elves hard at work sewing, woodworking, making tools and so on. The details in the workshop section are incredible!

With travel really limited this upcoming Christmas season, a visit to Casa Santa in Antipolo offers a unique and timely treat not far from the metro. And even if you’ve visited the museum before, the new sections offer great additions that will make your visit worthwhile.

Experience nostalgic memories and make new ones while marveling in the different Christmas and Santa Claus memorabilia. Even just walking around the gardens of Jardin de Miramar and breathing the fresh air offers a great break from the quarantine life. This Christmas season, you can include this in your road trip along with other sights in Antipolo.
