Masbate City, the capital of the province of the same name, is known as “The Rodeo Capital of the Philippines.” Mention Masbate and images of cowboys, rolling hills and the laid-back haciendero type ranch life come to mind. Largely agricultural, main activities here revolve around industries such as large farming, livestock and poultry raising.
If you’re into motorcycles, surfing or steampunk, you will probably want to make STKD Zeppelin your office. STKD Zeppelin is an eye-catching social coworking and event space in Kapitolyo, Pasig City. Run by the same guys behind surf and moto company Stoked Inc. Philippines and La Union’s Flotsam and Jetsam Hostel, this work and events space just breathes creativity and imagination.

Sta. Cruz Island is a small island in Zamboanga City famed for having a pink sand beach. I was awed by the island’s beauty when I first visited in 2013. I was a bit worried when it started gaining popularity because National Geographic included it in a list of the best beaches in the world. While such a distinction can ruin a place and put it in danger of over-development, I was glad to see that the island remained as beautiful and pristine as ever when I returned several years later for in time for their Summer Festival.
My mother recently asked me to plan a family trip while my nephew is on summer break. Originally, we were planning to just travel domestically to a kid-friendly destination. But since Taiwan has eased Visa restrictions for Filipinos, I suggested we consider Taiwan instead. If you’ve been tasked with making travel arrangements, you know how much of a nightmare it can be to just get everyone’s availability and commit to a date. It can be really stressful and such a hassle booking flights especially if you’re doing it for several people and official airline pages take forever to load.

My hometown Naga City in Camarines Sur is commonly associated with religious pilgrimage sites. After visiting a place, the journey going back is usually pretty uneventful. Packing up your gear and heading home is usually not even worth writing about. But after visiting the stunning Pinipisakan Falls and spelunking in Sulpan Cave deep in the jungles of San Jorge, Samar, the journey going back was just as exciting. The third and last leg of our epic adventure involved riding the currents of the Blanca Aurora River downstream.
Of all the places we visited in Lombok, Indonesia, Bukit Merese or Merese Hill was my favorite. Located at Tanjung Aan beach in Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara, Bukit Merese offers the most stunning and jaw-dropping scenery. Prior to my trip, I didn’t really know much about Lombok except that it was being positioned as an alternative to the more popular island of Bali. Our brief visit to these scenic hills overlooking the beach was a pleasant surprise.
