Camiguin Travel Guide: New Guidelines (as of October 2021)

The island province of Camiguin is finally reopening to tourists for responsible travel starting October 25, 2021.

Camiguin was the last destination I traveled to in early March 2020 before the pandemic lockdown restrictions were imposed and I can’t wait to revisit again when I have the chance.

The island born of fire boasts of natural sites from sea to summit all around the island, hot springs, white sand beaches and has a great local food scene.

For those interested to travel here in the near future, I’m sharing the latest guidelines and requirements to visit as shared by the Camiguin Tourism office.

What to do before visiting the island

1) Prepare a valid ID, photo & your phone

  • For a smooth user experience, prepare the following before you start filling out the registration form:
  • Make sure your cellphone is just within reach and ready to receive a one-time password (OTP) via SMS text message.
  • Make sure you have saved images on your mobile phone or personal computer of the following:
    • Latest photo of your face (For your CCQR Photo ID)
    • Photo of your valid ID
    • Your photo holding your ID beside your face

2) Register for a #CleanCamiguin QR

Go to cleancamiguinqr.com, the official contact tracing system of the Province of Camiguin

3) Fill in the Health Declaration Form

  • Create an account and fill out a Health Declaration Form.
  • You can register as an individual or an establishment (for employees visiting as part of offices, banks, hotels, stores, etc.).

4) Prepare your VAX Card

  • Upload your proof of complete COVID-19 vaccination (1 or 2 doses)

5) Get an RT-PCR test

  • Upload your negative RT-PCR test result
    • Taken within 72 hours of arrival if from Luzon
    • Taken within 48 hours of arrival if from Visayas and Mindanao

6) Book your accommodations

  • Upload proof of confirmed booking from an LGU-accredited establishment or a clearance from the Municipal Health Officer of the municipality, if staying in a private home

After completing all the steps, you can download your ID with QR code and save on your phone or print out.

Take note that an Antigen Test will be required on your 5th day of stay in the island.

  1. This is such a good news to see Camiguin reopening to tourism! Thanks for sharing these very useful details about the guidelines! Let’s hope this only goes better from now on, after one year and a half of mostly ni activity at all tourism wise in most places around the Philippines.
