Hue Hotel and Resorts, Boracay

Summer is just around the corner and Boracay is ready to accept tourists once again to their tropical island paradise. The top destination in the Philippines was one of the first island destinations that reopened to domestic tourists last October 2020. Amid the pandemic, top hotels and tourism establishments have put safety measures in place to ensure that guests can enjoy relaxing and safe stays on the island.

Presently, a confirmed hotel booking and a negative RT-PCR test are two of the main requirements that leisure tourists need to present to visit Boracay these days. Hue Hotel Resorts and Boracay can conveniently arrange the test requirements for guests in one convenient promo package, which includes a 3D2N overnight accommodation, and complimentary breakfast for two, making island vacations less stressful to plan.

To encourage tourists to travel again, the lifestyle resort has slashed their room prices, making hotel stays more affordable. The current low occupancy rate means you get to enjoy hotel amenities like the picturesque swimming pool all to yourself or for your own private group.

Since Boracay has waived age restrictions, allowing minors and senior citizens to travel to Boracay, a staycation at Hue Hotels and Resorts is a promising prospect for families looking to get away from Metro Manila and enjoy a beach vacation after months in lockdown.

Location

Hue Hotels and Resorts is a relatively new property centrally located in Station 2, just a five-minute walk from the White Beach, consistently rated as one of the most beautiful tropical islands in the world.

It’s about a 15 minute walk from shops at D’Mall and 5 km (with ferry crossing) from the Boracay Airport. The hotel is located conveniently between Stations 2 and 3. Station 2 is where the center of the action takes place and where most restaurants and establishments are located, giving you easy access to what the island has to offer. Meanwhile, Station 3 is where you can find most of the budget-friendly accommodations. Station 1 is known as the quiet side of the island, where you can find the famous Willy’s Rock and different luxury resorts.

Ambiance

Hue is a lifestyle hotel and resort that boasts of contemporary architecture complemented by wide open spaces and a picturesque pool, making it a perfect spot to unwind after a day of enjoying the beach, or even as the main attraction.

The hotel aims to strike a balance between the easy-going island lifestyle with the peace and serenity of its natural surroundings.

The resort’s facilities offer a modern take on dining, lifestyle, and wellness making it a great all-in-one spot for your vacation. The hotel offers a vibrant and relaxing getaway ideal for couples, families, or group trips.

For those who don’t want to stray too far, the property has a range of dining and retail options right at the ground floor, including a stunning poolside bar, cozy lounge area, a gym, spa, and souvenir shops. There’s even a convenience store right on the premises.

The way the place is designed, the vibrant color choices, photogenic nooks and overall fun vibe will most probably appeal to millennial travelers, barkadas, and families with young kids.

Accommodations

Hue Hotel and Resort Boracay has 127 rooms that combine style and comfort that couples, families, and friends are sure to appreciate. The chic and contemporary interiors balance peace and privacy with the dynamic vibe of Boracay island. Thoughtful touches and accessible features ensure guests feel at home, while living the island life.

All rooms feature free Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs and minifridges, as well as safes, and tea and coffeemakers, while some have poolside views. The 1- and 2-bedroom suites also have sitting areas and/or soaking tubs.

During our stay, we were booked in a Deluxe Room on the third floor, which offered an amazing view of the pool at the center of the hotel. We were welcomed with personalized touches, including refreshing fruit-based welcome drinks, a greeting with our picture on the TV screen (whoa!), and a slice or rainbow cake in the room!

Ideal for couples or solo travelers, the stylishly designed Deluxe Room (25 sqm) comes with either a King Bed or Twin Bed. It has ample space and comes furnished with standard features, including a widescreen TV, separate toilet and bath areas, sink, a rack for hanging clothes, and desk and work area.

It’s noticeable how hygiene kits are now part of the the new normal amenities of hotels, which includes disposable face masks, gloves and hand sanitizer. Sanitizers can also be found throughout the property and visual cues are everywhere regarding social distancing and sanitation procedures.

Another thing I appreciated about the rooms is how room keys were embedded in waterproof baller bracelets, so they were easy to wear/bring even if you’re not carrying a bag and we didn’t end up misplacing them like we sometimes do with regular card keys.

Other possible room options include the Suite Room, Family Room and Spectrum Suite. The Suite Room (good for 2) comes equipped with all the basic necessities, but comes with a bigger floor plan (40 sqm) and the addition of a bathtub. The vibrantly decorated Suite Rooms, which comes with a King Bed that will appeal to those who plan to spend a lot of time indoors for some R & R.

The Family Room (good for 2-6 persons) is the perfect accommodation for groups. The Family Room has 2 rooms — each with its own separate toilet and bath. There’s also an indulgent 60sqm Spectrum Suite, good for 2 pax that offers a hip living room, bright dining area, and luxe bathtub. For checked-in guests, parking, breakfast and welcome drinks are complimentary.

Swimming Pool

The swimming pool is the central feature of the hotel and looks inviting both day and night. When it gets dark, the hute pool comes alive with dim lighting, giving the place a spa feel. After taking the Paraw Sunset Sailing cruise, we went night swimming to take advantage of the pool and ended up having it all to ourselves!

Dining options

La-ud

Another draws of Hue Hotel and Resorts are the various amenities you can find within the same space. La-ud, the airy in-house restaurant where complimentary breakfast is served, also serves a variety of dishes that you enjoy throughout your stay in case you’re feeling too lazy to walk to the beach and check out the restaurant scene. Or if you’re traveling for business and need to stay in, you can easily order room service.

The restaurant has limited the seating areas per table in the dining and common areas as well as the elevators for guests. It also has a furnished terrace and an outdoor pool with a swim-up bar.

Prisma

You can also find Prisma, a modern tropical bar that serves up the absolute best drinking experience in Boracay, within the hotel premises.

The bar evokes the beauty of its island home with picturesque views and a refreshing ambience. It elevates the local drinking scene with its vibrant atmosphere, specialty cocktails, and quality service.

Nonie’s

Nonie’s, also located within Hue Hotel, offers a variety of healthy dishes including vegetarian, vegan-friendly & gluten-free options. They also offer Indian cuisine from new concept Little Taj, the only Indian food on the island.

We enjoyed the Tempeh Grain Bowl with Adlai, Chicken Tikka Masala & Paratha. The friendly restaurant also makes their own in-house Kombucha.

Station X

We’re all familiar with Station 1, 2 and 3 of Boracay, but did you know there’s a Station X as well? Station X was conceptualized as the newest foodie destination on the island, boasting of well-curated restaurants that offer different cuisine. It’s like an open-air food hall with well-designed interiors that will appeal to for young and hip millennials.

Before the pandemic, Station X was a top foodie hub on the island, with stalls offering everything from yakitori, tacos, pasta and more. While the stalls remain closed as of our visit, the lounge is still a fun and vibrant place for checked-in guests to enjoy or work.

During our trip, we both had to catch up on some WFH tasks and deadlines, and we appreciated the fast WiFi in Boracay, which is still not the case in many island and beach destinations around the Philippines.

These days, with work being done mostly online, you could technically work from anywhere. I’ve read that families are going on extended vacations so kids can still attend online classes and parents work during the day, but everyone gets the benefit of a change of scenery and the beach right after and during weekends.

Hue Hotel also has long-staying “Alternative Abode” packages for as low as Php 15,000/week or Php 55,000/month for those who want to make the hotel their second home for a while.

We enjoyed our stay in hotel, had the whole pool to ourselves for night swimming and generally enjoyed the island vibe of the property.

Virtual Tour

Here’s a virtual tour of the property by Miggy Velado as shared by Hue Hotels on their website.

“We Got Hue” Promo

Hue Hotel and Resorts is currently offering a “We Got Hue” promo that includes 3 days and 2 nights room accommodation, with complimentary breakfast AND the RT-PCR Test Package for 2 persons with results available within 48 hours for just P10,600 nett. Tourists can book the promo deal until May 31, 2021 with stays valid until June 30, 2021.

According to their website, the promo has an unlimited rebooking option at least seven days prior to arrival. Considering regular RT-PCR tests can cost anywhere from P3,000 each for regular 48 hour results, this is a pretty good deal. It also helps that you only have to coordinate with the hotel to make arrangements for both. They’re currently in talks with some airlines to include flight options in future packages. Their extended stays and other special offers also sound like amazing deals for digital nomads.

Thank you so much to Hue Hotels and Resorts Boracay for hosting our stay on the island. Be sure to check out my detailed travel guide to Boracay to see what it’s like to travel to the island in the new normal and what other activities you can enjoy during your stay.
