La View Mountain Resort in Real, Quezon

We first discovered La View Mountain Resort in January 2022. After trying to ride to Jariel’s Peak one weekend by motorcycles, we were forced to turn back because checkpoints and border restrictions going to Infanta, Quezon were still being enforced.

Before reaching the Infanta marker on the way back, I spotted a gate to the left and what looked like a cabin-style restaurant. While there are a couple of restaurants on the other side of the road like Km. 90 Eco Park and Restaurant, we were pleasantly surprised at the amazing the view of the mountains this place had to offer, so we decided to eat here instead.

Since then, this cafe, restaurant and resort has become one of our default stops and favorites in the area for weekend rides. Even after borders have opened up and we can cross more freely, we keep coming back just for weekend escapes from the city.

The weather up in the mountains can be very unpredictable. Even if it’s sunny in Manila, it’s a lot cooler up here because of the elevation. The temperature dips especially in the late afternoon and evenings, making it a great destination for those who like cold weather. Some days, you can witness a sea of clouds here.

The occasional fog also adds to the atmosphere of the whole area. For those who can’t travel far during weekends, it’s as close to Baguio weather as you can get from Manila. Every ride so far had been a different experience.

Since the heat was unbearable in the metro last May 2023, we decided to bring bikes by car and enjoy biking around the mountain roads of Tanay.

La View offered a great starting point for breakfast, a secure place to park the car while biking around, and a good dining spot again for early dinner before driving back home.

From here, we enjoyed the long stretch of traffic-free roads that we usually just whiz through on motorcycles and got a good workout biking somewhere cooler with a refreshing view of mountains.

Location

La View is located in the mountains along the Marikina-Infanta Highway in Real, Quezon. The area roughly just a two-to 2.5-hour drive from Manila is known as Little Baguio and is commonly frequented by motorcycle riders because of the foggy and cold weather.

Dining

On various visits the past year, we’ve tried a few of their dishes including their all-day breakfast meals and merienda dishes, which come in generous sizes.

Price-wise, the food is a bit more expensive than the usual places frequented by motorcycle riders and bikers, but the place is less crowded. It’s more popular for families and couples out on road trip dates, rather than the usual large rider groups.

For lunch or dinner, our default order is the Beef Rendang served with Puso ng Saging or Kare-kare. In case you’re not in the mood for a full meal, they also serve good coffee and hot chocolate.

Accommodations

While all our visits to La View have been on day trips, I wouldn’t mind staying here overnight with family sometime especially during the summer months. The temperature in the area is much cooler and you can feel like you’ve traveled far by going on a staycation here.

La View offer rooms for rent, including cozy A-frame cabins and Barkadahan villas for larger groups. Rooms start at P4,000 a night for two guests with breakfast.

The A-Frame cabin is a 20-sq. m. loft type bedroom with ensuite bathroom, 1 Queen size bed and 1 Full size bed that can fit 3 guests (subject to additional charges in excess of 2 guests).

The Hillside Rooms are located in a Country style building with 8 rooms. The Poolside Villa (25 sq. m.) have 2 Queen size beds, 1 Daybed, and can fit a maximum of 5 guests (subject to additional charges in excess of 4 guests).

They also have huge family rooms with mountain views, and an XL Barkadahan Villa with 10 queen beds and 3 bathrooms good for 15 people for large family or group getaways.

While staying overnight, checked-in guests can get access to 4 outdoor pools including the infinity pool, gazebo and picnic tables, view deck, and ample parking area. Guests can enjoy waking up to a sea of clouds in certain months, and enjoy unobstructed views of mountain ranges. There are no cooking facilities on site, but guests can just easily order food from the restaurant and cafe.

From here, you can easily visit Km. 90 Little Baguio Botanical Garden nearby or drive on further to visit other eco-parks and waterfalls. While the restaurant and cafe has WiFi, the signal is a bit weak in the area, so be prepared for an off-grid/digital detox stay.

  1. Hello Kara,
Hello and your subject dating back to 2022 Covid lockdown brings
back memories of my own attempts to get to General Nakarvto visit
friends. My bike a duke 390 I had outfitted with adventure tyres made me think
I could avoid the several checkpoints put up by Police and army.
The authorities had even given a task of surveillance to a whole chapter of motorcycle clubs to patrol side roads. And they met me there too, very friendly,
we just had a chat before I returned to Marikina, a bit frustrated but happy to have tried my best after having properly prepared maps, compass and more to beat such a well managed set of manned road blocks.
Maybe a kind of awareness came out of this experiment . Showing Calabarzon under the Duterte period was organised to keep any popular sedition right frozen.

    Greetings, Charlie
