Where to drink on the Disney Adventure cruise ship: Bars, cafes & lounges guide

One of my favorite experiences aboard the Disney Adventure cruise ship as a child-free adult was hopping around the cafes and bars inspired by different Disney, Marvel, and Pixar films. It’s not every day you get to do coffee crawls and pub crawls while at sea, and the themed bars on the cruise ship were just fantastic.

Beverage aboard the Disney Adventure. Disney Cruise Line

Like the ship’s themed areas and main restaurants, every cafe, bar, tea salon, nightclub, and lounge featured incredibly detailed interiors, whimsical touches, and unique signature drinks referencing Disney characters and films.

Spellbound. Disney Cruise Line

During our four-night sailing, we made it a point to visit the different bars and try a few of the unique drinks. Whether you’re in the mood for specialty coffee, tea, non-alcoholic drinks, craft cocktails, mocktails, beer, wine, whiskey, or more, you’re sure to find a bar that will appeal to you.

Here’s a closer look at all the drinking spots and signature drinks on the Disney Adventure cruise ship, now sailing from Singapore.

Spellbound

Spellbound is a cafe/bar inspired by the Evil Queen from Snow White and the Seven Dwarves. If you need a caffeine fix, you can order lattes with Disney prints or try their signature coffee Pandan Cloud, infused with Pandan and Coconut Cream. Spellbound specializes in tempting drinks, like Appletinis, “potions,” and a “Poison Apple” cocktail in an elaborate Witch’s mug, which guests can take home afterwards.

In terms of the bar’s design, vibe, and unique signature drinks, Spellbound is one of the top spots you should visit. I loved how their menu was designed like a tome or magic spell book. Deck 6, Midship

Tiana’s Bayou Lounge

Tiana’s Bayou Lounge is a laid-back lounge inspired by the heroine from The Princess and the Frog that serves coffee, cocktails, mocktails, zero-proof drinks, beer, and more. Signature offerings include a Green Tea Matcha, Turmeric Latte, Swamp Soda (with a specialty Ray Firefly Glow Clip) and beignets.

While I think the place is more suited for afternoon coffee, as a beer enthusiast, I’m always on the lookout for unique beers so I wanted to tried the Jing-A Worker’s Pale Ale, a Beijing-based craft beer with hints of grapefruit and pine resin. Of all the bars on the cruise ship, this felt the most tita-friendly and it was one of our favorite hangouts for live music. It helped that the counter here had charging stations, making it a good option for those who need to recharge phones or catch up on some work while cruising. Deck 5, Midship.

Marvel Style Studios

By day, the Marvel Style Studio is a fun spot where kids (and adults) can get superhero-inspired makeovers, don costumes, and get photoshoots done. At night, the salon transforms into an adults-only speakeasy for high-end beverage tastings.

The bar serves mostly whiskey and hosts beverage tastings and mixology seminars (bookable through “My Reservations” on the DCL App). Deck 6, Aft.

Buccaneer Bar

Buccaneer Bar is a pirate-themed sports bar themed after Captain Hook from Peter Pan. The darker, neutral interiors offer a retreat that guys (especially dads) might prefer as a break from the more colorful kid-friendly areas. However, it opens much later than other bars.

Zero-proof Amaretto. Disney Cruise Line

We enjoyed taking photos in the afternoon when it was still closed, but it got packed at night once there was a game on, so we didn’t get to try drinking here. One of the bar’s signature drinks is a two-person cocktail called “Dead Man’s Chest” served in a treasure chest complete with smoke and special effects. Deck 6, Aft.

Royal Court Lounge

Located in Town Square, the Royal Court Lounge is one of the most central spots on the ship to hang out and enjoy live music or interactive activities and workshops. This is where you can spot a mural of all the major Disney Princesses.

If you find it too hot in the open-air poolside bars or crowded in cafes, I recommend taking out coffee or drinks and hanging out here during the day. There’s no pressure to order anything if you lounge about here.

Bacha Coffee

Bacha Coffee is a luxury specialty coffee brand founded in 1910 in Marrakech, Morocco. The first-ever Bacha coffee room and boutique on board a Disney Cruise Line ship takes inspiration from Aladdin and offers cruisers a whole new world of finely brewed coffee.

While Bacha Coffee is served in many onboard restaurants and in-house staterooms, those who want to try other variants can visit this elegant coffee room and shop. I highly recommend buying the Magic Lamp coffee taster set on board to take home. After tasting some flavors like I Love Paris, it was hard to go back to my regular coffee. Deck 7, MID

TWG Tea

TWG Tea is a luxury Singaporean brand founded in 2008, well-known for offering high-end, artisan teas. The elegant salon and boutique, with décor inspired by Beauty and the Beast, invites passengers to be their guests with tea and tea-infused macarons and pastries.

TWG Tea is also served for free in rooms, restaurants, spas, and from the free drink stations, but it’s worth passing by the tea salon if you want to buy limited edition Beauty & the Beast-themed tea and tea sets. Deck 7, MID

Alley Cat Cafe

This vibrant snack bar in San Fransokyo Street near the Baymax Cinema is inspired by Aunt Cass’s bakery and coffee shop featured in Big Hero 6. The menu features a range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, including character latte art coffee, beer, and popcorn. I tried the Alley Cat’s Meow, a lightly sweet beverage made with espresso, condensed milk, oat milk, vanilla, and yuzu. Another signature drink is Low Batteries Latte made with matcha, agave, lemon, cherry blossom and espresso.

You can also find exclusive novelty items like an insulated Baymax popcorn pouch, a Baymax sipper, and a Megabot sipper, which are add-ons for certain drinks. Alley Cat Cafe is a great hangout spot at night after watching movies or while playing free arcade games. One of our favorites. Deck 7, Aft

D Lounge

If you’re in the mood to belt out some tunes or enjoy live entertainment with friends and family, head on over to D Lounge. This high-energy entertainment venue offers family-style karaoke and hosts trivia games beside a bar. Anyone can sing on the stage for free.

There are a few private karaoke rooms as well. Slots can be booked via the DCL app for an additional fee, with complimentary snacks included for a 90-minute session. Deck 7, Midship

Bewitching Boba & Brews

Bewitching Boba & Brews serves bubble tea in a neon-lit setting with design elements featuring Ursula, Flotsam & Jetsam from The Little Mermaid. This bubble tea salon offers refreshingly fruity drinks like Mermaid’s Berry Kiss (with Strawberry, Blueberry, Raspberry, Jasmine Tea) and Mystic Tide Matcha, made with Milk, Matcha, and Brown Sugar Boba. Deck 10, Aft

Palo Cafe

Palo Cafe is a coffee bar that captures the seaside charm of Portorosso, the fictional town from the Pixar movie Luca. Aside from coffee and desserts like cannolis, tiramisu, and tarts, the bar also serves wine and premium pizzas. Deck 10, Aft

Wayfinder Bar

This breezy oasis nestled within the Moana-inspired Wayfinder Bay offers craft cocktails and tropical drinks with stunning sea and sunset views.

Signature drinks include the Kakamora Smash, Maui Quencher, Tea Fiti, named for the Polynesian Goddess of life and nature. This bar is also where you can find the Hei Hei souvenir drink holder. Because of its secluded location at the back of Deck 10, the Wayfinder Bay area is a good spot for poolside hangouts and chilling out at night. Deck 10, Aft.

Taverna Portorosso

This elegant sports bar inspired by Luca, offers guests an Italian Riviera-themed spot to enjoy drinks and watch big games on screen. Taverna Portorosso has one of the widest selections of bottled and draft beers, including Hitachino Nest White Ale, Celestial Cardamom Rose Saison, and Galactic Tropical Stout, to name a few.

They also serve cocktails, mocktails, zero-proof drinks, Grain, Juniper, Sugarcane, Agave, Whiskey, and Cognac. You can spot the iconic red Vespa from the film parked inside, and their menu also features the red scooter on the cover. Deck 11, Aft.

Garden Bar

This bar, in the middle of the Disney Imagination Garden and Garden Stage, offers a central spot on the ship to drink.

Absinthe Frappe. Disney Cruise Line

Guests can enjoy a selection of fruity cocktails like Garden Sparkle and Pixie Creamsicle, along with mocktails, wines, sparkling, champagne, sake, and zero-proof drinks. Deck 11, Midship

Market Bar

If you’re hanging out by the main pool and on Deck 17, Market Bar is one of the spots where you can order alcoholic drinks and beer. This café, adjoining Pixar Market Restaurant, serves crafted cocktails, vibrant mocktails, and different mainstream draft and bottled beers, and cute souvenir Pixar lamp straws. Deck 17, Midship

Bounce and Hops

Bounce and Hops is another casual poolside bar where you can order drinks from if you want to take advantage of the free pizza from Pizza Planet. Most of the bottled beers here are mainstream brands like Hoegaarden, Guinness, Heineken and Tiger, which you can order by the bucket. I tried the Jing-A Mandarin Wheat Beer to enjoy on the deck. The hazy beer has hints of mandarin orange and coriander seed with mild malt sweetness and a zesty dry finish, perfect for hot afternoons. Deck 17, Midship

Infinity Bar

With its breezy outdoor ambiance and secluded pools, this bar, hidden on Deck 18 (Marvel Landing), is one of the best spots to unwind and savor a drink at night. The Infinity Pool and Infinity Bar feature subtle nods to the Infinity Stones, with the bar offering cocktails named after the different Infinity Stones (Space, Mind, Reality, Power, Time, and Soul.)

Infinity Bar also serves wine, sake, zero-proof drinks, and beers like Osmanthus Pear Cream Ale. A small kiosk beside this bar serves free hot dogs with customizable toppings. Great spot for a dip, drinks, or an after-dinner snack. Deck 18, Aft

Disney Adventure cruise drink tips & hacks

Prioritize cafes and bars with unique drinks, merch or entertainment

With so many cafes and bars to pick from, it can be hard to choose where to spend your money. But since you’re on a Disney Cruise, you might want to prioritize the cafes and bars that offer the best ambiance, unique drinks, entertainment or limited edition merch that come with drinks.

My personal picks are Alley Cat Cafe and Spellbound. If you want to enjoy chill live music, head to Tiana’s Bayou Lounge or Wayfinder Bar. For a fun time, pass by D Lounge for karaoke or trivia night. You might also want to splurge on drinks at The Animator’s Palate or Pixar Market Restaurant during rotational dinner service to get special Tinkerbell or Remy straws or the Dante sippers.

Bring a tumbler for the self-service drink stations

Stay hydrated during the day by taking advantage of the free drinks from self-service drink stations (water, juice, soda, etc.). These can be found on open air decks like Deck 17 and Deck 10/11 near the Disney Imagination Garden and Discovery Reef. Bring a refillable tumbler so you can refill ice and drinks easily. You can also refill drinking water from your bathroom sink.

Level up your free drinks with soft-serve

Some stations near the breakfast buffet area offer basic coffee (regular and decaf), tea and hot chocolate. While the free coffee isn’t as good as the specialty coffee in paid cafes, you can level up your drinks with an easy hack. Combine soda or coffee with the free vanilla soft serve ice cream from Wheezy’s Freezies for an instant Coke Float or Affogato.

Enjoy drinks with free bar chow

If you’re like me who needs to be snacking on something while drinking, head to the bars near stalls with free snacks. Both Market Bar and Bounce & Hops on Deck 17 are near Pizza Planet while Infinity Bar offers free hot dogs. You can also get snacks like shawarma from Cosmic Kebabs and burgers and fries from Stitch’s Ohana Grill. If you plan to drink in your room, you can take the quick service food back to your room and order free room service 24/7.

Get the coffee & tea loyalty card

If you need a daily coffee fix be sure to get the coffee loyalty stamp card that offers a 6th drink for free after buying 5 drinks. This card can be used in different cafes around the Disney Adventure like Alley Cat Cafe, Spellbound and Palo Cafe, among others. The card isn’t always offered, so you might have to ask the barista for it. We only learned about it on our second sailing day after we had already bought 2 cups of coffee. Specialty coffee or tea excludes Bacha Coffee, TWG Tea and Boba Tea.

Order the DCL mug for a beer upgrade

Some bars that offer draft beer like Buccaneer Bar and Spellbound have a promo where you can order a mug to get larger servings of beer every time you drink. This promo works in all bars across the ship. You get to take home the DCL mug afterwards as a unique souvenir.

Sign up for beverage tasting events

Disney Cruises offers various beverage tasting events and onboard seminars which can happen in bars like Marvel Style Studio. One of the events exclusive to the Disney Adventure is a mocktail-making experience for guests to learn how to use nonalcoholic products, mixers and ingredients to craft artisanal alcohol-free drinks. Check daily onboard activities for times and exact locations, as these events have limited availability.

Tiana’s Bayou Lounge. Disney Cruise Line

Bring your own wine or beer (in limited quantities)

While beer buckets and wine packages are available onboard, ordering a lot can be pretty expensive. It’s possible to save a bit by bringing your own beer or wine in limited quantities. Based on Disney Cruise Line’s Alcohol Policy, guests 21 years and older may bring; “a maximum of 2 bottles of unopened wine or sparkling wine (no larger than 750 ml) or 6 beers (no larger than 12 ounces) on board at the beginning of the voyage and at each port of call. These beverages must be packed in carry-on (not checked) bags or luggage.

Take note that any alcohol brought on board may not be consumed in any lounge or public area. Guests who wish to consume wine or sparkling wine in one of the dining rooms will be charged a corkage fee of $29 USD per bottle. You can still drink in your room, but you’ll be missing out on the unique offerings of the bars and the outdoor ambiance.

Personally, I regret not visiting the bars more systematically during our sailing, missing out on some unique drinks, and getting the DCL mug on the last day instead of the first. Hopefully these tips can help out new cruisers plan their coffee and pub crawls at sea much better. Which of these bars would you like to try?
