Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic, was one of my favorite cities during our trip to Europe visiting 10 countries. And while in Prague, one of the places that I enjoyed the most was the Czech Beer Museum. I like beer and I like visiting museums. So what better way to soak in the city’s beer culture than to visit a place that explains Czech beer history and brewing traditions?
If there’s one place you must visit from Da Nang in Vietnam, it’s Hoi An. This charming and well-preserved UNESCO Heritage Town on Vietnam’s central coast is known as the “city of lanterns,” with small streets cutting through scenic canals. Multi-colored lanterns hang in front of every shop and lantern-lit boats look magical as they sail at night.
Every tourist town needs a proper craft beer joint and in the heritage city of Vigan in Ilocos Sur, one unique watering hole you can visit is Calle Brewery. The Spanish colonial town, one of the country’s UNESCO World Heritage Sites, is well-known for its homegrown restaurants serving authentic Ilocano cuisine. Established in March 2018, Calle Brewery offers a relatively new spot in Vigan where tourists can enjoy craft beer and smoked meats in a brewpub converted from a century-old stone house.
The Ber months have arrived and there’s no better way to celebrate than with an outdoor beer festival. Mark your calendars this October as another MNL Beerfest event is coming soon. The 3-day MNL Beerfest is back and set to take place from 4:00 pm to midnight from October 13-15, 2023 at Capitol Commons Park in Pasig City.
Get ready to enjoy a range of hard-to-find beers and meet up with fellow hopheads from all over the country all in one venue. This year’s beer festival promises an extraordinary lineup of local craft breweries from over the Philippines, imported beers, good eats, and an unforgettable experience for all beer lovers.
Taiwan is definitely a destination that will appeal to foodies. Whether you’re in the mood for the tastiest dumplings, freshest seafood, or unique street eats, Taiwanese cuisine has something to offer for everybody. For beer lovers, it’s also a great place for chill drinking sessions with its hip craft beer bars and good selection of beer in convenience stores and groceries.
Since Taiwan extended its visa-free entry for Filipino citizens until July 31, 2024, we decided to book a quick bike vacation to the capital city Taipei combined with food-tripping and drinking in between.
When you think of Japanese beer, brands like Kirin, Asahi, Sapporo and Suntory immediately come to mind. You can order these beers easily from any restaurant in Japan, find them in convenience stores, or even purchase them directly from vending machines.
These days, the craft brewing culture is very much alive in Japan. Tokyo is home to many small breweries and micropubs, so it can be overwhelming to decide where and what to drink.
The sidequest for beer continues! One of my main motivations for traveling these days is to check out new opened craft beer spots or revisit old favorites. Aside from doing the Taal Lake Loop, one of the main reasons I wanted to revisit Tagaytay was to check out Papa Bolo.
Papa Bolo is a relatively new brewery in Tagaytay City which opened last June 2022. The huge brewpub serves quality Filipino craft beer brewed with local ingredients along with upscale food to match.
Clark Freeport Zone (or simply Clark) in Pampanga is a former U.S. airbase in the Philippines that has been redeveloped into a modern industrial area. These days, it’s known as a center for leisure, fitness, entertainment, and gaming in Central Luzon. Clark is home to several family-friendly theme parks, casinos, and the Clark International Airport, a major airport near Manila.
For cyclists, Clark offers a great, bike-friendly destination near Manila. Since the pandemic hit, a lot of improvements have been made to appeal to cyclists and leisure bikers. Aside from the large open spaces and greenery and natural canopies provided by trees in the whole area complex, there’s a very good network of freshly painted bike paths, safety signages for bikers, and facilities to host cycling festivals and events.
For road bikers and urban cyclists, coffee rides have become a big thing for weekends. There are just so many new minimalist cafes that have popped up all over the metro that you can ride to every week just to go somewhere new or hang out on those Tambike rides with friends.
But for mountain bikers, there’s nothing quite like a mug of ice cold beer to beat the heat and help you relax and recharge during longer weekend rides, night rides, and bike camping.
There’s a cool new spot to enjoy craft beer and local coffee in Tagaytay!
Siglo Brew is a relatively new dining destination, having opened on June 12, 2021. It’s conveniently located right across Tagaytay Picnic Grove, a popular sightseeing spot. For those who want to eat full meals, you can head to Siglo Modern Filipino restaurant along the road. But you can also just head on to the back, located inside View Park Hotel for coffee, craft beer, local pastries, and beer chow.
