Romblon Ride: Looping the Island by Motorbike

Romblon Island is the smallest of three major islands (the other two being Sibuyan and Tablas) that make up the province of the same name in the Philippines. Known for being the country’s leading producer and exporter of high-quality marble, this peaceful and laid-back island is pretty compact, with a circumferential road of just under 50 km. In fact, you can circle the island by motorbike in just a couple of hours.

After spending the morning on a boat island-hopping around Cobrador, Alad and Logbon, I decided to spend the afternoon on land, looping the island starting counter-clockwise from San Pedro Beach Resort.

Product Review: Pertua Oil & Metal Treatment for Motorcycles

It’s been a while since I’ve gone on a good ride from the metro. Because of recent out-of-town travels, I haven’t been able to use my custom bike Fenrir much. It’s been sitting idle in the garage badly needing a tune-up. For the past month, my bike has been having problems starting and is always dying on me when I use it even for short distances, so most of the time I just use my reliable scooter if I need to go somewhere.

Travel Tips for Motorcycle Road Trips

Earlier this year, I met Phillip / JT of MoTour Pilipinas, a motovlogger based in Laguna who aims to visit all 81 provinces of the Philippines on two wheels. For those who’ve been following my blog and Facebook page, this has also been a long term quest of mine as well and I know how challenging it can be to try and do it all by motorcycle.

He’s also vlogging all about his adventures. Video content is something I haven’t really tried doing seriously, but I can see how engaging it is for audiences compared to just writing and photos. We’ve been trading some tips on different trips through Facebook and I’ve been following his adventures on Youtube.

Best Motorcycle Road Trips from Manila

For riders, just hitting the open road, regardless of the destination, is an adventure in itself. While there are some small amazing islands great for exploring by motorcycle, it’s more convenient to just rent motorbikes from there. For those coming from Manila who have their own bikes, your best bet would be to ride around the mainland of Luzon, the largest and most populous island in the Philippines.
